Programs & Projects

​​CenPEG supports informed and active citizen demand and participation throughout the process of drawing up policy to practicing it. To promote the empowerment of the marginalized sectors towards active citizen action for political and electoral reforms, CenPEG pursues the following programs or services:

PSPA

Policy Studies, Publication & Advocacy program conducts research and policy study; develops an electoral database program called BODEGA; publishes discussion and working papers; organizes conferences, roundtable discussions, seminars, workshops and other fora; and provides public policy consultancy for groups and/or individuals in private or public office.

  • To promote electoral and political reforms, CenPEG conducts participatory research and policy studies on governance issues

  • Its research outputs include weekly releases of Issue Analysis, which attempts to examine and analyze timely political trends and developments. The center’s research program also involves the publication of books and modules related to governance;

  • CenPEG strives to address problems of governance like corruption and underdevelopment by organizing conferences, roundtable discussions, forums, seminars and workshops, implementing values-centered programs such as the Program for Integrity and People Empowerment (PIPE), and maintaining a network of Democracy Watchers.

  • Develops an electoral and political database program like the ScoreCard and Bodega for its Electoral Watch.

  • Provides public policy consultancy for groups and/or individuals in private or public office regarding electoral and political concerns.

EDTRA

Education and Training program produces multi-media education and training modules, holds trainings of facilitators and trainors engaged in education, training and literacy seminars/workshops on CenPEG's various concerns to promote political and electoral changes.

Education and training (EDTRA) program is a CenPEG civic education service that provides basic tools and skills in governance and people empowerment to various groups and organizations.

The grassroots-based EDTRA program is dedicated to promoting transparency, accountability and people participation (TAP) as basic tenets of governance and ethical values of justice, truthfulness, industry and self reliance.

EDTRA produces multi-media education and training modules, holds trainings of facilitators and trainors engaged in education, training and literacy seminars/workshops related to political and electoral concerns. It covers a wide range of subjects from local governance, policy study and constitution to electoral politics, foreign affairs, bureaucracy and issues of corruption and underdevelopment.

Upon request (link to CONTACT US), the Center provides a basic course on Democratic Governance and People Empowerment (DGPE), as well as special courses and seminar-workshops on electoral and sectoral concerns. To promote clean and honest elections, it conducts Poll Watch and Voters' Education seminar-workshops during election season.
EDTRA's objective is to raise the awareness of the marginalized people in local governance and raise their capabilities in: 1) exacting greater transparency and accountability from government units and officials; and 2) achieving "self-governance." As a strategy, it aims to raise the capabilities of opinion-makers and the people in the grassroots about the principles and practice of "democratic governance."
Projects

Volunteers Integration Program (VIP) – provides practical learning and exposure on governance work and people empowerment at the grassroots level for students and other interested groups like professionals and government local leaders.


CenPEG projects cover a wide-range of community-directed activities for PSPA, EDTRA and Media advocacies.

  • "Electoral Watch"

  • "BODEGA" -- CenPEG's electoral vote mapping and political database, which provides quick reference for researchers on various information related to political leaders, candidates, party-list groups and political parties.

  • Bantay Balota -- an independent nationwide poll-watching and quick-counting support system to help ensure clean and honest elections​​

  • Program for Integrity and People Empowerment (PIPE) – in partnership with Transparency International-Philippines, the program is focused on promoting ethical values of truthfulness and justice as well as the tenets of transparency, accountability and people participation to fight corruption and underdevelopment.
