FILIPINOS THINK POLL AUTOMATION WON’T SOLVE ELECTORAL FRAUD

As voters' registration ended over the weekend, results of the latest IBON nationwide survey showed that majority of Filipinos believes poll automation will not address the problem of alleged electoral fraud.
Of the 88.5% respondents who are aware of the poll automation program, 56.5% believes that it will not solve fraud in the upcoming elections. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will implement poll automation nationwide for the first time in the 2010 elections in the aim to minimize electoral fraud.
IBON conducted its nationwide survey on October 2-8 among 1,496 respondents. The October 2009 survey used a multi-stage probability sampling scheme and has a margin of error of plus or minus three percent. (end)
